What’s Happening…SOS

Thursday, June 7th, the Clemson Men’s Basketball Team attended the end-of-year banquet for the Anderson Heat at the University’s Student Union Bowling Alley. Coach Dick Bender along with Daniel Sapp, Devin Coleman, Rod Hall, Bernard Sullivan, and Carson Fields went to the banquet in order to congratulate the Heat on a successful season. The Clemson team was able to share their stories of hard work and dedication, which has enabled them to play basketball at the college level. Carson Fields said, “The team had a great time being able to share what it means to be a member of the Clemson Basketball Team with the Anderson Heat. We were able to talk to the boys and encourage them to pursue their dreams of being a college athlete.”  The team was grateful for the opportunity to interact with young athletes in the community.

Dana Jackson, Coach of the Anderson Heat, said, “Word’s can’t express how surprised and thankful the boys were to have Clemson basketball players to show up at the banquet. The look on their faces when the players walked in was priceless.” The Anderson Heat is planning to attend a Clemson basketball during this upcoming season.

This week two athletes will be traveling to Greenwood, South Carolina to speak to campers at Camp Power Puffers. These Clemson athletes will be speaking about how they overcame asthma and have been able to succeed in their sport. There will be over 60 campers at the camp from ages 6 to 12 that suffer from asthma. Also this weekend some of the Clemson Track and Field athletes will be volunteering at a local triathlon race that is raising money for the Helping Hands Center.
