In general, how difficult is it to play keeper?

“Keeper is an extremely hard position because you have a lot of people in front of you that you have to take care of. You can’t just take care of yourself because if you make a mistake, the ball is in the goal. You have to keep strong and confident and stay focused the entire time.”

CLEMSON — Sure, Eddie Radwanski wants his women’s soccer team to win every match. But if his Tigers play the way they did against No. 4 Duke on Sunday, they will win their fair share in the long run.

Following a disappointing four-goal defeat at the hands of No. 10 Florida State three days earlier, Clemson bounced back to give the Blue Devils all it had in a 2-0 loss at Historic Riggs Field in Clemson.

CLEMSON — There was a span of about 25 minutes in Thursday’s 6-2 loss to 10th-ranked Florida State that Clemson played the kind of soccer Eddie Radwanski wants to see for 90 minutes.

Though they were down 5-0 at the time, the Tigers became more aggressive on the defensive end and were attacking on the offensive side as they got goals from Liska Dobberstein and Stacey Huddleston.

CLEMSON — Eddie Radwanski was not happy, and it had nothing to do with his team’s 2-0 loss to South Carolina on Friday night at Historic Riggs Field.

Instead, he was disappointed in the explanation of a call that perhaps cost Clemson a goal and allowed USC’s Christa Neary to stay in the game at the 38:18 mark. On the play in question, Clemson’s Liska Dobberstein appeared to break away from the pack as she pushed the ball up field with a teammate trailing up the middle. That’s when Neary took the freshman out as one last effort to prevent a one-on-one matchup with goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo.

Things are going really well right now, how does the team plan on keeping this up?

“Our team has worked really hard in the preseason and it has paid off as you can see through the success of our first five games. Our goal is to continue to build on our strengths and to show improvement every game. Our practices have been helpful in making us execute more consistently and we hope that this hard work will transfer into our games. The biggest challenges are ahead with our ACC games. We hope the chemistry that we have developed along with our desire to win will have an impact on the way we perform over the rest of the season. Not only do we want a winning season, we want to play in the ACC Tournament!”
